Our friend and associate, Dick Richtberg, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in Huntington Bay on Sunday, February 15, 2009. Many of you knew Dick from his years of involvement with our local Big ‘I’ associations. Others will remember Dick as president of MRW Group with offices in Huntington, Medford and Rockville Centre. Everyone who knew Dick will remember his tall good looks, broad smile and friendly manner.

Over the years, Dick chaired many association and company committees, earned much recognition and moved to the top of the Big ‘I’ ladder representing New York State as National Director. Prior to that, he was president of IIABNY 1989-90; president of IIAA Nassau (now TriCounty IIAA) 1984-85 and president of the L.I. Chapter of CLU. Dick received several awards, including Tri-County’s Joe Bonica Award in 1986 and Bob Morris Award in 1988.The Downstate Insurance Associations Council presented Dick with their prestigious James R. Studgeon Award in 1994.

Dick is survived by his wife Carolyn, six children and 14 grandchildren. He and Carolyn loved to travel and spent as much time as possible in their Arizona retreat with their good friends Louisa and Gerry Visco. We bid him farewell to his final destination with much affection and respect.
